double spiral promenade
This is our proposal for walkways as a part of the embankment project of the Kizu-gawa River that flows through Osaka City. We proposed to create a set of double spiral, barrier-free decks, which links the riverside and downtown. We aimed to revive the riverside area by reinforcing its connection with downtown, and contribute to the healthier development of the local community. The two decks are connected by gentle slopes; while the water deck comes close to the water, the observation deck gives people a view of the townscape. In walking through the walkways, people moves not only horizontally but vertically, and experience both natural and modern sides of the city.
