Courtyard house in Shimizu

夫婦と子供のための2階建ての住宅
敷地は後背の山並みを望むことができる、おおらかな密度感のエリアにあるが、農地から宅地転用された計画地は、新しい住宅と、農地とが周辺に混在し、隣家と遠近どちらともとれない曖昧な距離感が生まれている。
ここでは完全には閉じられていない、場所によって開放性と閉鎖性が反転するような従来とは異なるコートハウスの形式性を導入することで、周辺環境との曖昧な関係性を再編集し、クライアントが求める防犯性やプライバシーの確保と、豊かな自然の享受との両立を目指した。
中庭を囲うロの字型の1階ボリュームの上に、南面に対し開けたＬ型の2階ボリュームが積まれたような形態とし、1階は中庭を中心にパブリックな室、ワークスペース、水回りの諸室などが配置され回遊動線で結ばれ、2階は対照的に開放的な屋上テラスを介して、大きな眺望を得ることができるプライベートな室が展開し、視線は静岡の大きな空に抜けていく。 中庭に対して、様々な大きさ・高さの開口を設け、場所によってその見え方が変化し、多様な内外の関係性がつむがれる。

A two-story house for a couple and their child. The site is located in an area with a sense of openness where the distant mountain range can be seen. However, the plot, which was converted from farmland to residential land, is surrounded by a mix of new houses and remaining farmland. This creates an ambiguous sense of distance between neighboring homes—neither too close nor too far. In this design, we introduced a unique form of a courtyard house that differs from traditional designs. It is not completely enclosed; rather, its openness and closedness shift depending on the location. This approach aims to reconfigure the ambiguous relationship with the surrounding environment while balancing the client's needs for security and privacy with the enjoyment of the natural surroundings. The house's shape features an L-shaped second floor, open to the south, resting on top of a U-shaped first floor that encircles a courtyard. The first floor contains public spaces, a workspace, and service rooms, all connected in a circular flow around the courtyard. In contrast, the second floor offers private rooms with expansive views, accessed via an open rooftop terrace, allowing the gaze to extend towards the vast skies of Shizuoka. Various openings of different sizes and heights face the courtyard, creating changing perspectives depending on the location and weaving together a rich interplay between the interior and exterior.
